Any Correlation Of Taking Tizanidine And Migraines
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I recently started taking Tizanidine (Zanaflex) with starting dosage of 4 mg at night and woke up with migraine? I have reviewed side effects and don't see it on the list. Has anyone else who has tried this medication, had this issue?

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, and @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, another thing you might try which does not include medication at all, is trying out a gluten-free diet. I have a daughter-in-law who has excruciating migraines. Her doctor put her on a diet with no gluten and her headaches are gone. She does not have Celiac disease though, so it's something to do with gluten causing headaches. It's just a suggestion but it might work better than drugs, and without drug-induced side effects.
Hugs,
Teresa

I researched Tizandine and found that in it's lesser known side effects is headaches. The Mayo Clinic offers a concise paper on it with all of its side effects both common and lesser known. Hope this helps.

I’m glad something works for you! I don’t take the Baclofen, because it doesn’t help me with my rigidity, which causes the muscles problems in the first place. My Rytary, C/L CR and even the Neupro patch never helped that either.
For my chronic migraines I’m on Percocet, but since I’m also on Clonazapam for epilepsy, it’s been ruled ‘dangerous’ to have both ‘Opiods’ and ‘Benzos’. Changing meds for either has just caused major problems.
So I’m still searching...

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member thankfully I have never bit a big bread eater. Hardly ever touch it and for me my breakfast is usually greek yogurt with fruit or sometimes oatmeal. LOVE my fruit and veggies, especially salad, and we cut red meat our of our diet many years ago. Now its fish and chicken mainly with pork occasionally. We used to be big on pasta but I barely cook that anymore unless my hubby is bugging me for my goulash lol. I have been looking at pasta made from veggies recently to use when he's craving pasta but haven't tried them yet. My biggest weakness is ice cream when I'm sick but I'm working on that one lol! I have had my diabetes totally under control now for over 4 years and only take metformin since changing our diet and his blood pressure and cholesterol is finally under control. My biggest issue now is not getting enough exercise. We used to walk 6-8 miles a day but now its hard to make a mile but I try every day to keep moving finding different projects around the house and went back to doing small furniture refinishing projects to keep my hand strength. We got out my old wheelchair and polished it up, which was my best bud for 5+ yrs from a serious car accident, and now have a sexy walker to keep me moving! So, if nothing else, I look GOOD doing that mile! LOL
