We have a diagnosis of PD but only via Zoom meeting. A brain scan for my husband next week. I have started him on simple exercises at home and may need a trainer in the future but I would like to get him a treadmill and stationary bike. Any suggestions? Everything seems so expensive but I do believe it will certainly help him. I saw a Theracycle bike on line which he probably doesn't need yet but looks like a good idea but which one? Any hints would be most appreciated.
I just found an article on line about smovey rings for exercise. Has anyone tried them?
If you have UTube access you can get many Silver Sneakers workouts in your own home for free!. (I live in FL and we are required to wear a mask in my gym so I no longer go for group sessions.) Can't wait to get back to groups though, it's so much more motivating. But I feel my meds work better and I am much more productive when I am exercising. Encourage him and perhaps workout with him.
Also, a neurologist who specialized is Movement Disorders is your best bet. I went to several locally without satisfaction until I went to Univ of Miami for diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you all so much. I have so much to learn. I saw the Theracycle and it is expensive. We are trying to find a neurologist who specializes in PD and movement specialist but with Covid it seems like we will only be able to see someone by Zoom. The neurologist who my husband "saw" on Zoom last week is really a stroke specialist so on to the next.
No we are in NJ in the USA
Are you in the UK. If you are you might be able to get these things from your local council .
