I have PD and have been feeling a little on the lonely side of late and had Pen Pals up until quite recently but, I found that if and when I talked about Parkinson's the conversations slowed up and eventually dried up.
Has anyone had any similar experiences?.
Hi Malth, I think you may have just stumbled into the pen pal capital of PD world. It's been a great place to learn, worry, complain, support, exchange ideas, learn and more. And, for me, over time it's taking on an air of friendship and trust. I'm amazing and thrilled that this is possible in this forum but it helps me so much in ridding myself of the loneliness I have felt for so long.
If you have some other postings you will see attempts to open interactions to include exercise, food, recipes and books and then 'tickle tuesday' to give us reasons to smile. I for one would love to pen pal with you and invite you into all of the other attempts to share info about other areas of interest. I hope you will join us and bring your needs and ideas with you so we can share them with you.
Maria
Unfortunately, this "thing" we all have in common is with us till the end. Having said that It does not mean that we should not carry on with the research, or the fundraising to support it, in fact, we should double our efforts for those who come after us.
When I was first diagnosed with PD it was the first I had heard of it and I left the Dr's office with a mass of paperwork to read. On reading up on everything Parkinson's I started to wonder what I could do to help! - now all my adult life I have one way or another tried to help people less fortunate than myself...I am not after any Brownie points doing this...it is just me.
However, in short, I want to do something to help and the answer is right before me as I handmake greeting cards and I notice that there are a lot of crafty people on the site and wondered if there is some way we could get together and put our skills together in an effort to raise much-needed funds in helping to give a boost for the research into Parkinson's. What do you and the team think? Mal.
I will be glad to talk with you about your Parkinson's. I have the same problems with people who don't want to talk about my condition!
I spoke to some very old good friends, this am, and when they asked me how I was, I told them it was basically a good week, but I have my good days and bad days but it was something I had to live with.. They asked if would recover, and I explained that things only go downhill. I treasure the good days and endure painfully the hard ones. You have my sympathy.
Hello amylindsaygentry, I believe that each of us has at one time or another heard that. The majority of people outside of PD are not aware of the disruption that Parkinson's can cause to a person's life and those around them.
