Leg Jerking
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband has (for lack of a better term) jerking legs which prevents sleep. Does anyone else have this symptom?

Yup, restless legs… requip helps me with that particular annoyance. And Rem sleep disorder… just another symptom. My wife gave up sleeping in the same bed months ago. At least she can get a good night sleep now.

We all wish for a cure. My right leg hurts on occasion the bone hurts. But I have plates screws and pins in the ankle which was shattered.

I know about being poked, kicked, etc. My partner has PD...his doctor just said it's part of the disease. I researched this sleep disorder, apparently in non PD people our brain prevents body movements during REM but does not with PD. My conclusion was it's those damn neuro receptors that are dying in PD. Wish I had a cure....

Ed does too. He kicks! And if he watches a fight or riot on the news, he is fighting all night long. I moved into the spare room. He felt so guilty beating up on me in his sleep. We both do better this way. If he has any problems, he keeps a whistle by the bed, or one of the dogs will come get me.
