Speech Difficulties
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else struggle with severe speech difficulties (Dysarthria, my niece the nurse tells me)? I tried the Big & Loud training/therapy but with little lasting results. Any other suggestions?

sing without reservation. I found that I could learn to pronounce words that I could not from reading, by singing, I think it stimulates a different pathway. My issue is that I have to get used to braying like a donkey while using it.

Oh Karen, thank you for that confirmation! I’ve been saying for a while that I can sing easier than I can speak! (Well, duh)
It may sound like a cliche, but that’s exactly what I needed to hear! Thanks!
