I think do as much exercise as you can do without hurting yourself. The usual recommendation is for 30 minutes of moderately hard exercise 5 days a week, but that may be too much for some people. Jim gets 30-45 minutes of gentle exercise (slow walks and stretches) every day and his doctor is satisfied. Jim would like to do more, but with his bad back, that is all he can do at the moment. The less you do, the weaker you will become and the less you will be able to do. If you don't want to end up bedbound sooner rather than later, then do something to strengthen your muscles and keep your heart and lungs working.

I always recommend PWP exercise as much as you can, as long as you can, as frequently as you can, and as hard as you can. In other words, it is entirely up to you. I engage in aerobic exercise at least an hour everyday as well as some exercise for flexibility and balance. I am missing engaging in exercises to increase strength. I take a tai chi class 1-2 times a week and play pickle ball once a week. You do what feels right to you. My MDS says that some people get a lot of benefit from exercise and some get a little bit of benefit, but everyone gets some benefit from engaging in exercise.

The usual recommendation of doctors is 30 min. Of exercise 5 days/per week. Personally, I walk one hour each day of the week, with few exceptions.
