Members explored the question of whether Parkinson's disease eventually depletes the brain's ability to produce dopamine naturally, leaving medication as the only option to function. Several members shared personal experiences with increasing reliance on carbidopa/levodopa, with one member describing needing doses every 2.5 hours to prevent tremors, dystonia, and speech loss, while also recommending a book by J. Eric Ahlskog as a helpful resource. A recurring theme was that while dopamine storage and production decline with progression, diet, exercise, and a positive mindset remain important tools alongside medication.

I just read up on it and it says if you stay busy the more dopamine increases.

I feel know the answer but I don’t want to thlnk about that. I know the progression has been more than enough for me. I have too focus on what I can do to retain some semblance of normality. I can’t imagine what I would be like if the medicine was all I could depend on. I either continue to focus on the exercise in addition to my meds, and manage accordingly.

I'm afraid that DBS is my next option and I'm not sure I want them going into my brain

They used to do lobotomies at one time and make great claims of the positive effects. Not interested. I'll just do more jumping jacks.
