Caretaker
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

1. What are the requirements and When can your spouse apply, and get paid as caretaker by social security?
2. Will the caretaker get Medicare health insurance for himself or herself from social security? Since the caregiver will care for you full time?

Where I live there is no help for getting paid to care for my husband by social security. My husband does collect social security, but I am not entitled to any pay. We don't qualify for Medicaid as we make a little bit too much to qualify, but that little bit is just enough to disqualify us for almost any support at all.

I googled it and it looks like it usually is needs to be either through the VA (for vets) or Medicaid, though some states may offer help or some long term care insurance. https://www.aarp.org/caregiving/financial-legal...
