My husband had a Neurologist/ Movement Disorder Specialist. He was prescribed 2 tablets of 25/100 Carbidopa/Levadopa three times per day, for a total of 6 tablets, for almost 5 years. When medication stopped working, due to Advanced Parkinson's, it was suggested that he take less, since the Carbidopa/Levadopa medication had stopped working correctly and started causing terrible seizure like tremors (perhaps Dyskinesia? )He then was prescribed Carbidopa/ Levadopa 25/100, just one tablet every 3 hours, for a total of only 5 tablets through the day. The tremors lessened tremendously.
I started with two after my first meal of the day. Then one after dinner. Eventually I figured out one at bedtime helps with the restless leg. Now I take three with first meal of the day, one after dinner and one at bed time.
Unfortunately, with PD, you will have to increase your meds eventually, because the disease progresses. I had gotten up to 12 C/L per day and had to take 3 amantadine on top of those, to stop the dyskinesia that the larger amount of C/L causes. Like MelissaOK9, I now only take 3 C/L pills per day and no amantadine after having dbs surgery.. I hope this is helpful
Blessings, Karen
I take 5-50/200CL and 7-25/100CL
It seems like a lot.
My hubby takes 4- 50/200mg a day and 1- 25/100mg. He was taking more of the smaller dose but has cut back now due to the fact that they are no longer working as well.
