PD QUESTION
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed in 2018. I have had 2 CT scans since then and neither one showed PD. Two different neurologists say that I have a slow progressing PD. Has anyone here NOT had PD show up on a CT scan and you have been diagnosed over three years? I am beginning to think that this may not be PD. TIA

Dat scan is the only scan to show pd. Mostly it is diagnosed with symptoms.

My sister was diagnosed with early stage of PD . She us 74 years old and she has several other health issues, a twisted spine as well. So i moved her in with me so i could be her caretaker. Moving her from Georgia to South Carolina was a challenge but i have finally got her all settled in. She was on palliative in Georgia but she had no one to help her so thats one of the reasons i moved her here. She is on hospice now. Only because she has COPD and she gets out of breath very easy and she's on oxygen. I do the best i can to help her as we do not have any family left. We only have each other.

I was diagnosed in 1991 and I was told the only way they can tell is physical and when the person passes on and an autopsy is done. They still say that today. So u mite have it. Just get a good Dr. The right kind also. U will b fine stay strong . We are all here if u need us.

And there’s always a DatScan if there are questions. Also an MRI will give information as well. But the previously described physical exam is often all that’s needed.

A normal CT scan won't show anything. My MDN says there are really to concrete tests they can give (i.e. blood test, cat scan, etc) She has me walk for her and she will have me put my arms out straight and then turn my hands back to front. She can compare it to my good side but she is looking for Bradykinesia or Dyskinesia. then she will have me pick up one leg and touch my heel to the floor several times on both legs looking for the same signs. She'll test my balance by having me face the wall then she will grab my shoulders and pull me backwards to see how I react,.
