My datscan was inconclusive. My symptoms were overwhelming. My second neurologist diagnosed me based on those. You don’t have Parkinson’s until 80% of the dopa producing cells are dead. I don’t think there’s anyway to quantify that. I don’t trust the data scan to be more accurate than the analysis of a qualified neurologist. The Movement Disorder Specialist is specially trained in Movement Disorders, like Parkinson’s. Them I trust.

Thank you everyone for your responses. DaleBurton, have you ever heard of a positive DaTscan not being Parkinson's? I don't want to give myself false hope but was hoping that could be the case.

Even a datscan isn’t always definitive. Parkinson’s is diagnosed based on symptoms. Sometimes the diagnosis changes as symptoms progress. However, Parkinson’s is always most likely.
