My dad's current doc is in Edison, NJ at JFK/Robert Wood Johnson. The guy is great with DBS adjustments. When it comes to our questions and concerns about anything else he just doesn't seem to care. I would love someone more pro-active and who listens to family members questions and concerns. I would love someone to take over, review his current medications and determine if changes or additions would be beneficial.

An update: my dad has a new neurologist in New Brunswick! My mom, dad an bro went to the appointment together (I was already back home in NC) and said this new guy took about 1.25 hours answering their questions and addressing concerns we felt were left unaddressed with his last doctor. New doc said his current med regimen is good but he needs a more strict time schedule of when to take them. He also added Remeron to help him sleep, but he said it could also increase his appetite...which would be great! We already had prescriptions for PT and ST, but this new guy game us a script for OT as well. Dad just had his evaluation for PT and they will see if he can get ST scheduled right before the PT sessions so it doesn't take so many trips. Then after those are done we will try to tackle the OT. Fingers crossed that these things all help and he makes some improvements!

Hi, Krista...my DBS team used to be at RWJ in New Brunswick, but have since moved to Neptune in south Jersey. Neptune is way too long a drive for me (I live in Warren County). The nearest DBS "expert" was in Macungie, PA. Her name is Nancy Diaz-Pechar, with St. Luke's Neurology Associates. She's good, but only books appointments 3 to 4 months away.
