I have both diabetes and Parkinson's and have heard that diabetes often leads to Parkinson's. On another note, here is a wee poem for you, my friend: Timeless Garden

Here in the timeless garden,
The scent of flowers hangs heavy on the air.
Bees sing their way among the vines,
Sounds of cricket and grasshopper,
Point and counter point,
Rise and fall through the birdsong.

Here are apples and apple blossoms together
Seeds and buds side by side.
All moments are gathered here as one
Eternal now
All seasons seamlessly woven
Patterning beds and bowers.

Dry leaves skitter across the path
Followed by blossom petals.
A dandelion seed drifts on the air.
Here in the timeless garden
Peace abides, discovering itself in my heart.

Hi Teresa, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. My understanding is that insulin resistance is pretty common in MSA patients. I understand there are some clinical trials that target this population. Two of the trials are in France and England but at least one of them is in the United States. If you like I can get you the link to that trial. Take care of yourself.

I have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s and also take Symbicort. I have minor tremor on my right side, lower body dyskinesia and ridgity I have been able to take my meds and control my diabetes. I lost 30 lbs and was advised to continue eating my diabetic diet which is heavier protein and lower carb but to arrange meals and med times 2 hours apart. So far so good I was told we would address the diet if it seems to be interfering with my PD so far it hasn’t. I wish you well…

Hi Teresa! That wasn’t the article I found but it is a very good one. All over the country there are clinical trials using repurposed diabetes drugs to slow the progression of PD. Cure Parkinson’s is also funding studies repurposing Amboxol, a medication used as a cough suppressant. I hope one of these drugs works. Take care. Susan
