I’ve tried taking the medication with food but it makes me feel worse. When I fall asleep, I check my blood sugar levels and find out my glucose has dropped to 88. It’s ridiculous.

Not often, But if I do the doctors and EMTS told me to drink a small amount of Gatorade. Then check my blood sugar level. It works every time.

To increase my blood sugar levels I either take a small bite of a piece of chocolate or take a few sips of Coca Cola.

I started noticing the medication was responsible for the drop in my blood sugar a few months after being on the carbadopa/ levodopa. If I take the medication with food or after eating, the food causes my glucose levels to rise as the medication causes it to drop. Within seconds I am in a lot of physical pain and there’s nothing I can do except ride it out. The pain starts in my feet… then legs… then back of neck. My dr said the medication should not be doing that but it does & I can prove it by taking a reading of my glucose levels before I take the medicine… and then test the levels every 20 minutes and the levels will spike ( if I eat food) then drop or Will rapidly drop if I eat nothing before taking the medication.

I haven't started closely monitoring her glucose levels yet. I'm a diabetic. I wasn't aware the drop in her blood sugar was associated with the medication. Thank you so much for this post. I am concerned to know about other developments. I currently make plant based smoothies with seltzer water to raise her blood sugar. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. God bless
