Got my husband home from three weeks of residential physical/occupational therapy. A bit overwhelming to be here with just the two of us and him using a walker and still trying to get his strength back. Just started home health so we are still seeing what all of the options are and how well we can do on our own. Thats a very tough decision to make. I'm fortunate that I'm not at that stage yet. I would recommend visiting some programs near you to see what they have to offer.
A lot depends on your financial situation. Assisted living is a lot more expensive than living at home with an aide who comes in for a few hours every day. OTOH, it means you have help when you need it, so it can be worth it if you are physically unable to do most of the caregiving yourself.
