Is Anyone Seeing A Psychologist Or Psychiatrist To Talk To Regarding How You Feel And Is It Helping
Yes indeed I have being seen a psychologist for 21 years now and I am thankful for her everyday it doesn't mean a world of good and I don't know what I would do without her I would recommend anybody to do that. I hope this helps you.
Yes my partner david and I speak monthly to a psychiatrist to help with anxiety and depression and also issues like sleep, nutrition etc. we also see a psychotherapist as needed for support and issues arising from the difficulty encountered with coping with a long term chronic illness like PD. It has been extremely helpful to have a sounding board and to normalize reactions you might have to some difficult situations. Being in a 42 years relationship and having new challenges at ages 71 we found it takes a village to deal with some things and we have tried to create those support systems. We might be biased as we were both psychologists before we retired and believe in psychotherapy and psychiatry throughout our lives as a way to promote healing and growthfrom old and new challenges.
Thanks,I am really getting nervous, appt coming up, don't like to reveal my shortcoming, never had to depend on anyone o ther than myself, now I am finding I need to talk to someone
Yes and it has helped alot. Started just to deal with PD specifically but has now broadened discussions to include related personal issues. I go weekly.
Saw and still see one once in a while..after we settled on a plan which helped greatly I just sort of stay in touch with him once a month now...I would definitely recommend it
