I have tapped into as much as I know about and am always open to adding more helpful and safe tools to my PD tool belt.
I take Tumeric and I think it reduces my tremors.
I take fiber and a vegetable based stool softener to reduce constipation.
I also have:
- a shower chair to improve independence and safety in the shower.
- grab bars in specific places
- I exercise about 30-40 min per day with Silver Sneakers for strength, balance and stability
- I go up and down my basement stairs to help my memory with lifting and alternating my feet.
- I ride my recumbent bike to help with alternating my feet, strengthening my leg muscles and reduce leg movement and cramping while sleeping.
- I reduce my anxiety with meditation/prayer and controlled breathing
- A bed rail to make it easier to get out of bed without assistance
-I take pre- and pro-biotics and eat primarily a Mediterranean diet to improve gut health
- I pay close attention to the timing of my meals and when I take levadopa so I take the least amount of meds and get the biggest bang
I think this is everything except the journaling, I hope this helps someone.

I have been creating ART for nearly 10 years now. I can’t sign my name but I can sketch a portrait, draw, paint etc. EXERCISE - I joined a local Partkinsons support group and we do some really awesome exercises. MUSIC - I have found music to be extremely beneficial in helping me walk during the tough off times. If I get stuck with my “cement shoes” on, I just sing a catchy song and move my feet. It reroutes my brain. Also learning to control stress and anxiety is huge - BREATHING exercises . I recently turned 50 and have been battling PD for 21 years now and along for the ride came depression, stress anxiety and extreme social anxiety. Best advice I can give is to get out and live your life!! It’s hard, damn hard but little steps here and there have become HUGE steps for me!! Never give up, be kind and remember to “Just Breathe” 😊💜

My mom was declining rapidly do to lack of sleep, we even went to urgent care. She was seen by a DO he recommended Epsom salt soaking... due to lack of magnesium. I credit him with saving my mom and my sanity. I felt so helpless. We tried EVERY THING from melatonin, Marijuana, alcohol even sleeping pills... what a difference she is even sleeping late ....and going to bed earlier 😴 so awesome!!

Early in my PD journey, I turned to medical cannabis as a sleep aid. No "druggy" reactions at all
