My Dad takes Linzess and it has been very helpful for him. Definitely see a gastro doctor.
That is a very good question since most of us struggle with Parkinson’s related constipation. The answer depends on what you’ve already tried, how severe it is, and what is causing the constipation. You can try conservative measures such as OTC medication such as psyllium. If that doesn’t work many of us are taking polyethylene glycol. If that doesn’t work I highly recommend that you see a GI specialist who is knowledgeable about Parkinson’s Disease. Ask your neurologist to recommend someone. He or she can prescribe medications that are more effective than OTC drugs, such as Linzess and Motegrity. Sometimes it is a matter of adjusting the dose of the medications you are already taking. Good luck. It can be a very frustrating problem.
I use Miralax and Ducalax on a regular basis. Will seek advice from my doctor on the next appointment.
