What are some of the challenges my husband (who has Parkinson) and I as his caregiver might have to face?

Family support is essential after DBS surgery. Patients need help with ADLs, transportation, medication management, emotional support, and advocacy. Family members can also play an important role in helping patients adjust to life after surgery.

Here are some tips for providing support:

Educate yourself about DBS.
Be patient and understanding.
Encourage physical activity.
Help them maintain social connections.
Be there for them.
By providing practical and emotional support, family members can help their loved ones recover from surgery and live a full and meaningful life.

ADL stands for Activities of Daily Living. They are the basic self-care tasks that a person needs to perform independently in order to live a normal life. ADLs are often used as a measure of functional status and independence, especially in older adults and people with disabilities.

The six basic ADLs are:

Bathing
Dressing
Toileting
Transferring (e.g., from bed to chair)
Eating
Mobility (e.g., walking, using a wheelchair)
