I lost my sense of taste a year after diagnosis. I had no desire to eat. Now, three years later, I have to force myself to eat. I can still taste certain sweets, so have to make sure I do not eat too many. I weight 89#. I weighed 98 when first diagnosed, which was right for me as I am and have always been petite. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?
Hello LadyLuckBB & welcome to my team! I have had PD for 12 years and only recently have I lost my appetite and taste for food. I can go all day without anything
to eating. I weighed 130 lbs. when I was diagnosed and I now weigh a whopping
73 lb.! What gets me is that the doctors don't seem that concerned! They suggest that I drink drink Ensure which I have been doing for months. I have a taste for chocolate and very little else. I plan on asking my Neurologist on my next visit if there is some sort of appetite stimulate I can take. I need to put some meat on these bones because I was falling a lot and broke a few bones.
Have you talked to your doctor about this? Well. kiddo, at lest you know you are not the only one with that problem. Take care and God bless!šā¤ļøš
Nuts, dried fruit, milk shakes, avocados, olive oil. Healthy foods that aren't all sugar but have higher calories.
U r right, I have been craving pickles, 73, no not pregnant, but could get rich if I was, like the salty tast and crunch also cakes. Real food, not so much, no taste. Crunchy stuff like peanut butter w jelly on a toasted bagel works too.
I can still smell sometimes but I still taste salt, sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. Use those if they work for you. Also try using texture and temperature. Go for really powerful flavors like hot wings, fra d'avolo, Indian food, etc...
Like you I don't eat much. My wife get upset if I don't eat, but . Try drinking things that help with appetite
