I Am Confused As To How My Husband's Symptoms Fit Into The Norm. He Was Sent To The U Of U Movement Clinic Only Because He Had Had RBD Cont

cont...He had no other symptoms except the slight things his neurologist picked up on such as gait. (Family had noticed slight cognitive decline. And speech and PT detected slight balance issues that family attributed to strokes.) So all of the advice about what to do for worsening symptoms, etc doesn't seem to apply. Because thus far, none of his symptoms are at all significant. Is it possible he may only suffer from cognitive issues? Or is the worst yet to come? How many people get Lewy Body?

It seems like there is more of a focus on RBD as having a possibility to be a precursor of Parkinson's symptoms. Another symptom that is now receiving more attention is loss of the sense of smell because this can sometimes precede Parkinson's symptoms although some loss of the sense of smell has been later seen to be related to sinus problems, allergies, etc. I think doctors want to be more proactive in trying to find out if a person may have Parkinson's because the belief seems to be that with some early interventions progression can be delayed. There is a new clinical trial that is hoping to be able to stop progression in those who are not yet taking medication. https://classic.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT...
