Members shared personal experiences with Carbidopa-Levodopa (C/L) and Sinemet, offering practical insight around managing the medication over time. Several members described adjusting their dosage schedules, such as switching from 3 doses to 4 smaller doses daily to reduce 'off time,' and a few mentioned transitioning to Rytary as a newer option that helped even out on/off cycles. A recurring theme was encouragement to reach out to a neurologist through a patient portal for small dosage adjustments without waiting for an appointment, along with warm support for the member's father trying C/L for the first time.

I am on Rytary 5x a day. Sometimes it works,, sometimes it doesn’t. There are moments where I crash and I just try to push through. However, the moments with my Rytary is working or amazing. I know some doctors like to keep people off meds until they absolutely need them. In my opinion if they absolutely need them and they waited too long. I’m glad that I can start on a low-dose. I got a little pumped up today. But I feel blessed that this medication can give me some normalcy during my day. Dad should try it. I hope he gets to feel free from his stiffness, it’s wonderful to feel great even if it’s just for an hour.

I was on C/L since my diagnosis. 12 years ago and the only change my neurologist has made in all that time has been in dosage. I recently started seeing a new neurologist and to handle the on and off cycle that I was experienceing, he change my meds to. Rytary and it has evened out my on/off periods. He explained to me that sinemet was develooed in the ’70s while Rytary was developed in the ’80s (a newer and a more effective medication.
