I need your HELP. My husband and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise with my husband’s family. I have so many concerns
1. Flying for 12 hours has me scared. My legs get rigid and painful. Last night it was so bad I didn’t sleep and I walked over a mile in my kitchen. We couldn’t afford first class which probably make a difference. ANY SUGGESTIONS
2. I struggle sleeping even on a good night. Traveling 12 hours over night I need to sleep but am afraid I won’t be able to sleep. When we get to… read more

Yes you should take your cane. If you have a walker that is portable and you have a seat on it you should take it also. I find that when I am going to be walking a lot my portable walker is best to take with me. Then if you need to sit and rest you can.

I don't know how much this will help. But I make sure that I get a seat that is directly behind first class. They have more leg room and that seems to work for me to wear. I don't have to buy a first class ticket to get room for my legs...good luck

One thing I might suggest because of your legs & being in a regular airplane seat which is cramped. I would make sure I got up & walked up & down the aisle a bit every so often to keep your circulation moving in your legs. You can hold on to the seats as you walk that will be on each side of you so no need for cane or walker. Choose an aisle seat. Your legs will hurt more if you don’t keep getting up & walking a bit. I would tell the hostess why you will be getting up to walk off & on. They will now be aware & helpful.
I say this because in 1988 I flew to Israel on a pilgrimage & coming home I was so exhausted from all the uphill walks touring plus our return flight was like 2 or 3am. I knocked out when I got on the plane I slept for so many hours & by the time we got to New Orleans my legs were so swollen from my feet up. Walking felt strange like I was an elephant. I was only in my 40’s without any fluid problems, so it taught me a valuable lesson. I probably slept 10 hrs straight. If real tired have your husband wake you after the number of hours you choose beforehand to get up & walk a bit. Enjoy the beauty you see on your trip. God bless you & have a great time. Listen to your body & do what is best for you. The others will understand if you need to stay in & rest. You have to take care of you. Instead of worrying about what others think. I agree with the importance of taking your rolling walker with a seat. You can order a walker bag with 3-4 zippered areas to keep your things in & don’t bring a purse. Be good care of yourself & keep hydrated.
Blessings 💕
