Some people on here don't use meds. It depends on how bad your symptoms are and what the side effects are for you. The meds help ease symptoms; they don't make the disease go away. If your symptoms are mild, then you might be fine, for a while, without taking meds. Since Parkinson's is progressive, eventually your symptoms will probably reach a point where you want something to help you feel better and be able to stop the tremors, dystonia, etc. If you're on them now, but don't want to be because of the side effects you are experiencing, talk to your neurologist about weaning yourself off them. Stopping suddenly can cause real problems.
I tried to stop C-L when the Movement disorder specialist (MSD) decided I don't have PD despite a 9 yr history. I've been told it makes no sense but on my 3rd day off C-L and slowly weaning off it with my MDS direction, chronic diarrhea, extreme anxiety and insomnia started and lasted for 6 wks, 3 days after I went back on C-L, those symptoms stopped.
,To my surprise, the joint pain, stiffness and muscle cramps are due to osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and are not affected by C-L but are made better by arthritis meds.and exercise. I'm seeing a new doc for help getting off C-L since the MDS is stumped by all of this. CRAZY!!!
I do believe you can get off C-L but do it slowly and with doc assistance.
