Members responded to a question about sudden sensitivity to real external noises like sirens, with the community quickly clarifying the difference between tinnitus and heightened sensitivity to actual sounds. Several members shared that Parkinson's has amplified their reactions to loud or unexpected noises, describing jumping at sudden sounds, struggling with TV noise, and feeling jittery even outside of off times. A recurring theme was that noise sensitivity is a real and relatable experience for many living with Parkinson's, with some noting similar symptoms can also appear in other conditions like bipolar disorder.

I have always been sensitive to noises. Parkinson’s has raised that to the next level.

Hi Renate, I take that you are talking about normal noise like sirens that we hear often. Only now it irritate / bother you a lot more than before.
I also have problems with noises. Mine is not PD related but due to bi-polar disorder, but is definitely related to times when I'm irritable. I've found a lot of similar symptoms in the two diseases. The cause of the noise problem might be the same.

P.S. Like you, I too, definitely do not have auditory hallucinations!!
