My daughter gave us (my husband and I) a long weekend trip to the Florida pan handle, where they were vacationing. I haven't traveled since i was diagnosed 3 years ago. I was not happy but agreed I'd need a wheelchair to get through the airports (I use a cane usually am not ready for a wheelchair)
The airline (Delta) was great at getting me wheelchair assistance for the trip to FL. But on the way back for some reason there were problems. I arrived at the Atlanta Airport after a delay in FL.… read more

Thanks for the input. The trip was a gift so I didn't pick the airline. I hadn't flown anywhere in over a decade.
I do love car trips. When we have a decent car and the funds to go. That's been years also.
So I make home as interesting as possible.
Some say It's cluttered (my home) I like having beautiful things around me (albeit cheap things).
I respond with welcome to my mind.

That must have been so frustrating! I know some people have enjoyed getting zipped across an airport in a special cart or wheelchair, but you never know what will happen. It's hard when you have to depend on others. Some helpers are great; some really don't care.

I am sorry to hear you had this horrible trouble! Please don't let it keep you from visiting your family in the future! We had a wheelchair with JetBlue and had -0- issues going and coming. Maybe Delta's was a blip, but I just heard that during the last cyber attack issue, they just dropped the ball on all the kids flying by themselves. I still can't get over that! They could have at least put them all on a bus or something. Anyway, try Jet Blue! It was like clockwork and they must have had over 50 people in wheel chairs at 6am that day -- it was very impressive.

Therease -- your line "I respond with welcome to my mind" that is so poetic and leaves me thinking and wondering in many ways. Making home as interesting as possible. I am the caregiver and someone used to being on the go. Your words are inspiring me to continue and push to continue to do that for me and my husband. I am always bashing technology, but with all the online courses and videos and movies etc., it is a lucky time to be alive if you're stuck at home a lot. And imagination is always free. Big hugs to you and hope your day is going well.
