Nancy427, I was experiencing cramps in my legs, ankles, arch of my feet and both hands before I was diagnosed with PD. My PCP put me on gabapentin and it had marvelous effectiveness
I have been reading some nasty things about gabapentin. I took it for a couple years before I got total off of it. However I take eatables now side effects are alot better for me.
I have severe leg cramps that run the entire length of my legs from top all the way to my toes in both legs and sometimes simultaneously..all through the night, they have been extremely painfull. I tried muscle relaxers and magnesium and that did help a little for a short period of time but eventually stopped helping. Since I have been taking trazadone before bed along with gabapentin I have seen a marked improvement. My neurologist said this symptom is one of the hardest to tackle and there is not a one size fits all solution..luckily for now I have found relief.
Thanks Tina for the info, I am switching to a new Neurologist next month who actually specializes in Pd so I'll be bringing that up with him along a myriad of other issues lol
