What Can I Do To Make It Easier To Use The Mouse On My Computer?

My index finger has so weakened that it makes it hard to double click the mouse quickly enough to open files. (I know you can right click to open the file a different way)

If I recall correctly on Windows there are settings for the mouse where you can slow down the doubleclick. If I get time today I'll see if I can find out exactly where they are. It has been a while since I have used them.

I found it! You just search for "mouse" under Settings. There are all these adjustments that you can make. It's much easier to use now. Here is what I got when I searched Google: To slow down the double-click speed on your mouse in Windows 10, go to Settings > Devices > Mouse > Additional mouse options and then on the "Buttons" tab, adjust the slider under "Double-click speed" towards "Slow" to decrease the sensitivity of double-clicking

Hi Susan. Have you tried a collar and lead ? Should find your mouse more useable and certainly easier to control.
Have a beautiful Saturday 👍 😁

I now have a touch-screen laptop which allows preference to mouse if you wish. I also am able to lower and or adjust arms bent at elbows and into my waist, or chest for more finger dexterity. Bringing laptop in closer is like holding your drinking glass closer to avoid tremors, or grip release spilling your drink, or dropping eating fork. This is not perfect but more of you in self control.............Q

SusanBailey -- turn on the voice activation on your computer and phone -- that's my advice based on my PD husband's success with that. He struggles with the conventional mouse now, but is reluctant to call the friend of a friend who mentioned that you can get a mouse for disabled people. I will try to research all that when I have time, but I DO believe that equipment can be found. You might try the Parkinson's Foundation Help Line -- real people will call you back with phone numbers and contacts, so they might have some ideas.
