Members jumped in with helpful answers about why Buzz the dog has been creating static electricity, pointing to cold, dry winter air as the main culprit. Several members suggested practical fixes like using a small humidifier, placing pans of water around the house, wetting your hands before petting, using dryer sheets, or trying dog-safe anti-static sprays found on Amazon. A recurring theme was that increasing indoor humidity is the safest and most effective solution, with a few members adding some lighthearted humor about Buzz's shocking new superpower.

Stroke him in a dark cupboard and send us pictures of the pretty sparks! A new superhero is born! By day, mild mannered Buzz, Phil's faithful hound; but by night...and with only few rubs from Phil, he becomes Electrodog, Defender of the Shakey!

I just found there are sprays for dog static on Amazon made specifically for dogs. It’s supposed to be safe. Increasing humidity is the safest way.

It’s electrical build up caused by imbalance of negative and positive electrons. It’s static because it lays there electrically charged until you disturb it. To fix it you need to change the imbalance. Try a small humidifier it gets really dry during the winter months. A small spray bottle that you wet your hands (not the dog in winter) can help dissipate the electrical build up on the dog too. Your Buzz is GORGEOUS! Also, hit the internet for other life friendly ways to discharge the imbalance.
