Members opened up about why emotional stress becomes harder to handle with Parkinson's, with many describing it as a combination of depleted energy, anxiety, and the constant physical demands of the disease working against each other. Several members shared coping strategies that have helped them, including boxing classes, exercise, hot showers, prayer, making short lists, and reminding themselves to take things one day at a time. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion, finding small victories, and leaning on community support to keep hope alive.

Parkinsons is like a three legged stool, made up of Parkensons, anxiety and lack of energy (poor sleep,). They feed off each other. Balancing all three helps a person live a better life
Think of a glass of water that’s full ,think of that as the energy a normal person has. With Parkinsons because of our excessive movements and the need to constantly fight our bodies ,we only have a half a glass of water to use every day. (Energy) That is why sometimes Emotional stress and anxiety are magnified because we don’t have as much energy to spend on physical and mental challenges. I recently read an article by the Mayo Clinic that exercise is the best way to keep Parkinsons from getting worse . As a caregiver, One of my friends has taken up boxing. Each Parkinson’s boxing class has eight different stations that you go to and the entire program lasts approximately one hour. By going to this class twice a week…The improvement over the last five weeks has been phenomenal.! More stamina, less anxiety and better sleep at night.

I've been contending with the same issue and I think it's because my independence, productivity, and my forgetfulness is causing anxiety as I try to adapt with my self worth intact. I keep reminding myself, "I'm doing the best I can." And I keep working to remind myself that I can still do a lot and I'm grateful for that. Hugs❣️

I heard from another Parkinson's Team member that eating lots of ice cream helps avoid constipation: all I can say is bring it on...😅

I feel that way also. I can go from a relatively calm person, do my exercises, be with friends, to a frantic depressed person I am sure no one wants to be around. I try so hard to slow down the progression that I only make it worse.
Every day I start all over,….getting really hard to keep going.
Love to all the people going through this.
