Inclement

What on earth do we need the word inclement for ? When was the last time you heard someone use it and why is it used almost exclusively to describe weather ? I think it's rather unusual, beautiful in its pronunciation and I vote we bring it ! 😄

A fun conversation about bringing back the word 'inclement' turned into a meaningful discussion about how Parkinson's disease affects temperature sensitivity. Several members shared that they have noticed increased sensitivity to both cold and heat since their diagnosis, with one member noting the connection between not moving much and feeling colder, and another planning to watch how weather changes affect their husband. A recurring theme was a mix of humor and genuine insight, as members laughed about regional weather sayings while also recognizing that temperature regulation is a real and often overlooked challenge with PD.

We don't use the word inclement in Arizona. We just say it's hotter than hell.

This is so interesting Phil! I hadn´t considered the weather having an impact on symptoms. I will remain a little more attentive to how my husband is when the weather changes. We live in extremely hot temperatures here in the Central Jungle in Peru but there are moments of intense rain, lower temperatures at night and strong winds so I will see if it affects him. "bring it" !

And yet no mention of 'clement' weather, not even in the long-range forecast.....

I'm all for bringing the word back into full use. I'm inclement myself.
