Dear Tina I have found that I walk slower than I used to.
I try to walk around ten thousand steps a day. Five thousand in the morning and the rest in the afternoon.
In the morning we climb up the mountain. People that have not undertaken this strenuous hike call it a hill.
However I regard all my shortcomings as part of growing old. I attach a picture of the little brick slightly sloping driveway.

Moving at a slower pace is a common experience with Parkinson's disease. It's completely normal to need more breaks and time between activities. The key is to be patient with yourself and move mindfully. Try counting to 15 seconds between movements when changing positions - this can help prevent falls and conserve energy. Many people find that using mobility aids actually helps them maintain independence and activity levels. A MyParkinsonsTeam member shared: "I used to see using a walker as a sign of weakness, but it's now my best friend and allows me to live life to the fullest." Remember - taking care of yourself by moving at a comfortable pace and using supportive devices when needed isn't giving up - it's being smart about managing your energy.

Fatigue and apathy are no joke

Before my first pills in the morning I'm impossibly slow. Even with the pills on board I have slowed down a lot. Fortunately I am retired and have time to move slowly. I DO practice moving quickly in my Rock Steady Boxing class and wrangling grandkids. I'm a big believer in use it or lose it. Using those fast twitch muscles has to be helpful.

Parkinson's definitely has slowed me down and I need more and more breaks. I hate it I used to be able to walk fast and do things fast. Now it takes me so much more time to do the smallest things.
