I have been told that I probably have atypical Parkinsonism and not regular PD. My symptoms fit right in with MSA. I hope I don’t have that. But my problem at the moment is OFF times. @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, If your insurance covers Carbidop/Levodopa, aka Sinemet, it will probably cover the Extended Release (ER)as well. Ask your pharmacist. He/She should be able to tell you if your insurance will cover it, or call your insurance. If they tell you know, push for a "prior authorization". The insurance I had when I was diagnosed in late 2022 covered Sinemet and Sinemet ER, but my system is picky and I can't tolerate either. Rytary works for me. It is also Extended Release, but it is a 3-tier drug and therefore even with a prior authorization, my copay was $789.98 to $1,000.000. Rytary is not a drug that anyone should bounce onto and back off of. If you have poor insurance and can tolerate the Sinemet ER, I suggest that you stay with that. Once I qualified for Medicare with extra help, my copay is never more than, $11.20, I think. I believe that bouncing on and off Rytary damaged my brain. If I could have stayed on from the time we discovered that it was the right medicine for me, I'm certain, I would be much better than I am now.
I'm taking Nourianz that helps extend cl it works but after my samples run out I'll probably have to quit because of cost
