People with Parkinson's often lose their appetite, either because of loss of smell and taste or because of depression and apathy. For those with bad tremors, the constant movement burns calories. My husband lost weight in the beginning, but he has been stable for a few years now. He eats less than he used to, because he is less active, but isn't losing any weight.
I went from around 120 pounds to 97 with no intention of losing weight. I saw a movement specialist recently and he said weight loss is sometimes a side effect of PD and simply suggested I eat more calorie rich foods. I don't feel particularly ill from being so light so I am not worrying about it. I also lost a couple of inches in height. All this over about 8 years.
In 20 22 I weighed 296. Today I weigh 163 . No one knows why or if its dangerous . I did not. Take Any drugs for it that were ment for diabetes. I had my major depression meds changed to bi-polar.so I could start Parkinson meds. For what ever is going on in my brain . Thay tried every med out for TD. None of it worked so they did a DAT scan and some testing. I did not even know what parkson or Parkinson's was till the doctor say us and showed the scan and told us. Doesn't matter Iam her i have lost enough weight for the Dr's but i am afraid of gain it all back
I could afford to lose a few pounds 🙁
