Members responded warmly to the question about sugar cravings and how sugar might affect Parkinson's medications, with many sharing that they simply haven't given up their sweet treats entirely. Several members offered practical swaps like dark chocolate, frozen berries, nuts, and soda water to satisfy cravings in healthier ways, while one member shared that wearing a glucose monitor helps them stay accountable. A recurring theme was the balance between enjoying life's small pleasures and managing health, with many finding humor and community in their shared love of sweets.

I have turned into a world class snacker. We keep plenty of things around to snack on. I try to eat healthy snacks ( berries, fruit, nuts and low sugar frozen treats ). But I really like ice cream - so I try and control how much I consume. I am diabetic so it is even more important. I wear a glucose monitor so I get instant feed back if I don't behave.

My husband's Neurologist told him that a beer is okay as long as it doesn't affect his balance too much. He indulges in a beer every night. He was a pretty heavy drinker before his PD. I'm glad right now that he can have one without issues.

Everything in moderation, Parkinson’s has taken enough of me. I am lactose intolerant but give me a Payday or Peanut butter cup!
