Kathleen, it is so normal for me. Every time I do something outside of the home, whether it's shopping, doctors' appointments, visiting a friend, going away for a day or so, I find myself extremely fatigued afterwards. I usually feel it the next day and sometimes more than one day. I just go with the flow. If I don't feel like getting up I just stay in bed. If I get up and don't feel like doing anything, I just don't do it. I have learned to forgive myself for not being able to do things as I used to do and that was a miracle because I was a fireball doing stuff every day and not letting up until after dinner dishes were finished. Do what's best for you and what you can manage every day because those fatigued times don't last forever.😘
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I try to remember to make list of discussion points for doctor appointments. Then I try to remember to take the list with me. Then I try to remember to refer to my list when I'm talking to my doctor. Asking my husband to remember these things is also helpful. If at least one of us remembers each of these, we accomplish more, or at least we did when I had a doctor who listened.
Thank you . I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings. Your reply was very helpful.
Anything that causes stress will make symptoms worse. Even good stress, like seeing friends or family, can make you more tired. Seeing doctors can be stressful, even when nothing bad happens. I find medical appointments frustrating because I never get a chance to say the things I rehearsed in my head beforehand. They are short and usually not very productive. There can be a real sense of anticlimax after. Don't worry about it. Just take care of yourself until you feel better.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, There have been many good suggestions for you here already, so I'll simply try to share my recent experience. My baby sister was born when I was 17. I left home before her first birthday. My mother effectively kept us apart until she died in 2019. I didn't want to push myself into her life, but we finally started building a relationship this year through Facebook. She lives a little more than 2 hours away. We went to visit her and to see how we could help with some house repairs as her husband passed away almost 2 years ago. I waited 48 years to finally assure my sister how much I love her and to be there for her. I pushed myself to do this on a Monday after we had gone to Sunday School, Morning and Evening preaching services the day before because some things are worth pushing myself for. This happened on November 3rd. I felt like I slept the entire week away. It seemed I was more tired this last Sunday than I had been for Wednesday night church but I went. I was still tired when I went to church last night. The alternative is to waste away at home. My husband would still rather help me get ready and continue to help me get through social events than to go alone. I would rather struggle to go with him than any alternate choice.
I've got some living yet to do! (See my profile for an encouraging poem the Lord gave me.)
