I definitely didn't experience any side effects, I definitely didn't experience any benefit either so I stopped it ! I hope that totally useless comment was helpful ! 🙃

My husband was put on it in the early days. It didn't seem to make much difference, so he stopped it. No side effects for him, but you're right, the listed ones are scary.

Are you wondering about other people's experiences with Amantadine and concerned about side effects?

Many people with Parkinson's do take Amantadine. It's commonly used to help reduce tremors and manage dyskinesia (those involuntary movements that can develop from long-term levodopa use).

Are you wondering about other people's experiences with Amantadine and concerned about side effects?

Many people with Parkinson's do take Amantadine. It's commonly used to help reduce tremors and manage dyskinesia (those involuntary movements that can develop from long-term levodopa use).

What other members have experienced:

A MyParkinsonsTeam member shared: "I had hallucinations years ago with Amantadine, but my doctor reduced the dosage, and they stopped."

Another member mentioned their husband had hallucinations on Amantadine, but when they worked with the neurologist to reduce the dose, the hallucinations stopped.

Common side effects to be aware of:

While Amantadine can be helpful, side effects may include:
* Confusion or hallucinations
* Headaches
* Fatigue or sleepiness
* Lightheadedness
* Nausea
* Dry mouth

The good news is that if side effects occur, your doctor can often adjust the dosage to minimize them while still getting benefits. It's worth having an honest conversation with your neurologist about your concerns before starting - they can help you weigh the potential benefits against the risks for your specific situation.
