My neurologist isn’t a movement disorder dr; should I switch?

I just met movement disorder specialist for the first time; he is so much in demand that I had to make the appointment 4 months in advance! He had tremendous knowledge and really did his homework with regards to my particular case. He adjusted my medication and it made a big difference. I am glad that he's on my team now. I don't like my neurologist and I don't see him; I keep him because I love his nurse practitioner. She's readily accessible and empathetic. I also have neuropathy and other general issues whereby I still need a neurologist. So I keep both.

Are you satisfied with the care you are receiving now? Do you have a complicated health history? Are your meds working? Does your current doctor work with you to optimize treatment?

My husband's PD is pretty simple. Not a lot of symptoms and not very complicated ones. His meds help, though he is still losing ground. His neurologist is quick to offer changes in medications and therapy as needed. He has done LSVT-Big and Loud, as well as PT for his back. I don't think he needs a MDS at this point. That may change in future as his disease progresses.

My dr transferred me to a specialist but they work together in the same place and I would say yes

I believe in utilizing both.
My current neurologist, who I see every 6 months, did not diagnose my Parkinson's but did recommend my visiting a movement neurologist for their opinion.
After visiting my movement neurologist she immediately sent me for testing at a hospital. They diagnosed my Parkinson's the same day. Before leaving they advised for me to see my neurologist twice a year and my movement neurologist yearly.
Both have agreed to the arrangement and I feel they each have been a large help.
