I had a major downturn in August, to stage 3. I started falling a lot. Since then, I have had a number of downturns (maybe 3) and falls, so I don't think they are all directly related to the falls. All I know is that there is a major change in my mobility, or lack thereof, general functionality with my hands, and greatly increased pain in my legs. I know the weather affects how you feel, and we have had a very snowy, cold winter this year. I have been put on exercise regimens which I have to… read more
Susan, has your vitamin B-12 been checked? Actually, maybe all your Vitamin Bs should maybe be checked. Mine is consistently low, which means I need injections to keep especially my B-12 up in the normal range. A low level has a huge impact on my ability to function even in my home. It started out occasionally low but soon moved to a chronic condition which required treatment. It’s just one of those possible causes of falls which often gets overlooked.

Lucinda, you sound like me. I listen to music all the time, Christian music with lyrics that I can use to open my heart to prayer. I've also lately gotten back into journaling which is very comforting and helpful. I have this wonderful devotional that I read every morning called Jesus Calling and it provides me with many wonderful insights.
As far as falls and worsening mobility, maybe you need a medication adjustment or a new one altogether. I went through the series of falls and the last one was caused by loss of balance. I fell backwards under my carport and my head slammed the concrete. I would tackle the balance problems by seeing your neurologist. Meanwhile, keep a cane nearby and your phone in your pocket...I learned that the hard way. Take care and be careful!
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, Is your Parkinson's genetic based or was it triggered by something else... or do you know what triggered it? There are some who never know, but the information I have found has suggested that genetic based Parkinson's can cause faster degradation than Parkinson's brought on by chemicals or medications and such. I don't know if I can attach anything here, but if you find me on Facebook and ask me, through Messenger, I can share peer reviewed articles I've found from the online university library from which I graduated in 2019.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, Yes, this is what I mean when I tell people that I thank God for Parkinson's. If the Lord tarries, none of us are going to leave this planet alive. There are much worse ways to go. God has prepared me for this my entire life. My great grandfather first showed signs that something was wrong when I was about 18 months. I was in their car, in the back seat and I remember Grandma Amy's surprise when Grandpa Harry first ran a red light. I spent many weekends and weeks of summertime at their house for the next 11 years helping Grandma Amy care for Grandpa Harry. He died of Parkinson's a few weeks before I turned 13 so I know what to expect.
Parkinson's gives me time to prepare and still leaves me conscious of my surroundings. I have the best caretaker I could ever ask for in @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. What more could I ask for?
