You should find a movement disorder specialist.
They have better training than neurologists.
Read as much as you can about Parkinson’s.

What should you do after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease yesterday?

First, take a breath. What you're feeling right now is completely normal. Many people describe feeling stunned, scared, and overwhelmed after their diagnosis. You don't need to figure everything out at once, and taking small steps can help you feel more in control during this major change.

Here are some immediate steps to consider:

Give yourself time to process
- Allow yourself to feel whatever emotions come up
- Don't rush yourself - everyone adjusts at their own pace
- Remember that there is life after a PD diagnosis, and many people live active, full lives for years

Start getting organized
- Keep a diary with dates and times of any symptom changes
- Track your medications and their effects
- This will help your communication with your neurologist

Focus on what you can control
- Exercise is one of the most important things you can do to slow symptom progression
- Stay as active as possible
- Take one day at a time and listen to your body

Build your support team
- Find a neurologist who specializes in Parkinson's - credentials matter
- Don't hesitate to seek a second opinion if needed
- Connect with others who understand what you're going through

You're not alone in this journey, and you don't have to face it by yourself.

Hi Cindy, welcome to the site.
I'm still going through diagnosis, I know the disease due to my mother.
You need to relax, get yourself on an active happy schedule.
I assume you already have a neurologist, find a good movement specialist and start keeping a log of how you feel, meds, any changes, etc. Share your notes with both.
They can help you find what you need to be as active and comfortable as possible.

Above all, keep moving.
You got this & and a community of help.
