I was working under my sink over the weekend and cleaning the flood I had from my sink and I bent down a lot of times and then the last time I did, I got really dizzy and had to lie down on the couch, I could not walk and when standing I felt like I would fall. Well I am still dizzy and cannot do much except sit on the couch. I looked it up and sure enough, it is a symptom of Parkinson I should have known. So was wondering if anyone is taking Midodrine or Droxidopa for this condition. Bean

Members responded warmly to a question about Neurogenic Orthostatic Hypotension, sharing personal experiences with dizziness, fainting, and falling, along with the emotional weight of managing this condition alongside Parkinson's. Several members mentioned taking Midodrine, Droxidopa, or Northera, with tips like rising slowly, rubbing feet on the floor before standing, and having something nearby to grab, and one member shared a detailed experience with a Loop Recorder implant to monitor heart activity. A recurring theme was the importance of working closely with neurologists and cardiologists to adjust medications gradually and find the right balance.

I take Metoprolol and Midodrine only way to control blood pressure ! If I stop one it either gets to high or to low ! I do have Hypotension and have to use hiking poles when I get up and stand for a short time before trying to walk ! We just have to find the sweet spot to continue this odd journey ! I’ve fallen many times but still walk for exercise with hiking poles as an aid and pick up trash when I walk in our neighborhood . I hate to walk but consider picking up trash as a job with exercise to boot ! Life is good just waking up every morning !😎☮️

If you are on blood pressure meds see your family dr and they will probably adjust the meds if not you have to learn to get up slowly it's not easy but you get use to it

I get OH when it's warmer, though I don't have PD. It may be dehydration or just an inability to tolerate warmer temps. The cardiologist said there was a 30 point difference between my blood pressure when lying down and standing up. I was put on Midodrine two months ago. It is somewhat expensive and doesn't seem to make much difference at the low dose I was prescribed.

If your dizziness persists, you might get checked for BPPV. It is a benign positional vertigo caused by movement in the crystals in your inner ear. It is fairly easily fixed by a doctor or PT. I had that a few years ago and it shows up from time to time now, but in a much lesser way. My PT did what is called an Epply Maneuver and the extreme dizziness was gone.

One of the side effects of CL is low blood pressure. I am on the maximum of CL and midodrine. Midodrine actually raises BP. In me, midodrine always wins. My bp usually is systolic ranges of bp (90~100) and a diastolic (60-70).
Hope this helps. Both drugs were raised in increments.

Hi Bean, I have the same problem at times. Just have to be careful and always have something nearby to grab if you get dizzy.👍
