Members responded to the question of whether daytime or nighttime is hardest with Parkinson's, revealing a wide range of personal experiences tied to the disease's unpredictable patterns. Several members described nighttime as the toughest, sharing stories of evening muscle spasms, tremors, and exhaustion after seemingly productive days, while others found mornings most difficult due to stiffness, freezing of gait, and the time needed for medication to kick in. A recurring theme was finding personal rituals that help, including exaggerated marching exercises, relaxing music like native American flute, deep breathing, and staying active to manage symptoms throughout the day.

I listen to native American flute and wind whistling through a window on u-tube both work well to help calming and sleep

I have more trouble in the daytime. I've had PD for 5 years and I am lucky that I am able to sleep. I have trouble getting the tremors to calm down at night so I can go to sleep but I have a pretty good ritual that seems to work. I sleep really well, wake up once in the night to go to the bathroom and fall right back to sleep. The daytime is full of tremors, stiffness, slow gate. I do work out twice a week and one of my exercise movements is doing exaggerated marching and swinging my arms. I do it at home too sometimes. It really seems to help. I do not take any medication yet. Just herbal supplements and vitamins.

My c/ l keeps tremors at bay, but my big biggest problem problem is freezing of gait. Some.mornings have I just can't lift feet. Takes me an hour to get dressed amid stumbling. Have no problem doing hard chair exercises. Feet work fIne when sitting down.
