These are really important questions worth exploring with your doctor. Having a family member with Parkinson's does slightly raise your risk, but it's worth knowing that fewer than 10% of people diagnosed with Parkinson's have a family history of it. So while it's something to be aware of, it doesn't mean you'll definitely develop it.

Here's something interesting about primidone (Mysoline): it's typically used to treat a condition called essential tremor, not Parkinson's tremors. This could be a helpful clue for your doctor.

There are some key differences between the two types of tremors:

- Parkinson's tremors happen at rest — like when your hand is sitting in your lap
- Essential tremor happens during movement — like when you reach for a glass
- Parkinson's tremors are slower and larger in motion
- Essential tremor usually affects both sides of the body equally

The fact that you've been on primidone for a long time suggests your doctor may have already considered essential tremor as a diagnosis. That said, it's absolutely worth having a conversation with your neurologist, especially given your brother's diagnosis. They can properly evaluate your tremor and give you peace of mind.
