What are you self medicating with? We have to be careful with this dang disease with what we consume. But if it’s “natural”😉. I use the same medication with my Parkinson’s meds. It does seem to help with the pain and my tremors.

PT can help with some lower back pain. My husband has several compressed discs in his back. He was given some exercises to do and as long as he actually does them, the pain is less. I do them as well for my intermittent sciatica.

Dealing with lower back pain while waiting for answers is really tough — hang in there. It's important to be cautious with self-medicating, as some over-the-counter options can interact with Parkinson's medications. Connecting with a doctor or neurologist as soon as possible is strongly recommended, even before the MRI results come in.

That said, here are some approaches that may help with Parkinson's-related back pain:

Non-medication options:
- Physical therapy — exercises that improve posture can make a real difference for back pain
- Gentle movement like walking, stretching, or yoga
- Applying heat or cold packs to the affected area
- Consistency with any exercises is key — as one MyParkinsonsTeam member noted, "Physical therapy has helped ease the pain, as long as he does the exercises frequently"

Medications a doctor might consider:
- Gabapentin or pregabalin for nerve-related pain
- Muscle relaxants for pain related to muscle stiffness or dystonia
- Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for dystonia-related pain

One MyParkinsonsTeam member shared that gabapentin "helped with the shooting nerve pain" in their neck and shoulder area.

Please avoid self-medicating without guidance, as it can be risky. A neurologist can help find the safest and most effective plan for your specific situation.
