What a great idea to look up Parkinson's-friendly workouts to do together — having a workout buddy (especially a dedicated one like you!) can make a real difference in staying motivated!
Here are some great YouTube channels and programs to explore:
- PD Warrior – Specifically designed for Parkinson's, with targeted exercises. They also offer online coaching options tailored to his abilities
- Rock Steady Boxing – Search YouTube for their Parkinson's-specific boxing workouts
- Parkinson's Foundation – Has free exercise videos on YouTube designed for different ability levels
- Dance for PD – Gentle, fun movement classes on YouTube that you can absolutely do together
A few important safety tips to keep in mind:
- Always check with his doctor before starting any new exercise routine
- Stop immediately if he feels dizzy, faint, or uncomfortable
- Watch out for balance challenges — having you nearby is already a great safety measure
- Start slow and build up gradually
It's also worth asking his doctor about an appeal for the PT denial, or requesting a referral to a physical therapist just for an initial assessment to guide your home workouts safely.

I was able to get approval from UHC for 8 weeks of PT. I have to get pre-approval on everything; procedures, care, referrals, etc.
