Apokyn Injectable -about To Start On It. Anyone Use This Drug?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My sister is about to start Apokyn which is a rescue drug that is injected( like diabetes’ injectable with small thin needle that doesn’t hurt). It supposed to kick in within 10-20 minutes and last about an hour while other carbidopa-levodopa kicks in ( takes about an hour for that). Anyone have experience with this drug?

My Hallucinations Started About 8 Yrs In. They Were Never Threatening To Me Nor Even Bothered Me Much.
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

They ranged from pet size dark shapes to colorful full sized figures. Appearing often during the days. As my depression continued the doctor changed my medicine to a unique antidepressive called EFFEXOR. Since raking 75mg a day, I have not had a hallucination. I was shocked. I kind of miss them. I haven’t told the doctor yet. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Do You Smell Smoke? Olfactory Hallucinations
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Even even though my grandfather passed away many years ago, I still smell his cigarette smoke. I Smell cigarette Smoke in my own house where I know that no one has ever lit up. I Smell cigarette smoke in all the weirdest places.

I have had visual hallucinations off and on for many years. I know that is common for individuals with PD. Besides that, has anyone else had olfactory hallucinations? What do you smell?

What Experience Have You Had With Nuplazid?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Approximately 3 months ago, I experienced severe hallucinations hypothesized to be associated with an urinary tract infection, I had a second less pronounced episode of hallucinations about 6 weeks ago, also associated with a UTI. My neurologist prescribed Nuplazid, the only medication approved for the prevention and treatment of Parkinson's related hallucinations.

I have had no significant hallucinations since then. However, it is difficult to determine if the decrease is a direct effect of… read more

Low doses of DXM are beneficial for PD. Higher doses (like the ones found in cough syrup) are detrimental. Neurologist =1 PR = 0
