I am looking for an very good Movement/Parkinson's Specialist. We are on Florida's East Coast near Vero Beach. We are willing to travel a bit to find a really good doctor. Say as much as 50 a 75 miles.
Diane, National Parkinson Foundation in Miami is a great resource. (800) 4PD-INFO (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators)

Which Doctor did you decide to use ? I am looking for one in the same area ???
Michael, You have wonderful and calming things to say. So you and your wife both had PD and you both opted for the DBA? How interesting. Did the PD bring you together? Many of our members are considering DBS. May I give them your posting contact? I think you would be one of the best to speak to them and help them to make a less fearful decision.
I would really love to have you on my team so I am adding you and your wife to Team Sterling. Welcome. Best wishes. Team Sterling
Second opinions are always good. Afterall its is "Brain Surgery!" You could always ask if they could fast track your surgery unless you are unsure. In that case, you probably still have questions which I could probably answer having gone through DBS and successfully in 2007 and my wife in 08. We'd be happy to talk with you.

Thanks for information about Miami. They had some good information. I am still considering what to do.
Last year I went the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoratuion for an evaluation. They were wonderful and really through. I have been having a few problems and called for an appointment. The doctor I saw last year does not have any appointments until August!
They would not give me an appointment to see someone else until the request for another doctor goes through some kind of process. So I have to wait until they call me back. It is going on 2 wks.
Thanks again!
