Hey @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member
Check this out... http://clevelandshoulder.com/arthroscopic-total...
This is my doctor who eliminated all of my shoulder pain with a TSR, and got rid of all pains the moment I woke up from surgery.... I am so impressed by the skill and humanity of this famous surgeon....
REUBEN GOBEZIE, M.D. - Director, Cleveland Shoulder Institute, and Founder/Director, GO Ortho, Regen Orthopedics..... http://clevelandshoulder.com/about-us/
After visiting their new GO Ortho Regen Orthopedics website... http://www.regenorthopedics.com/educational-vid...
I included having this procedure done to my bucket list, hopefully within the next year.... even if I have to pay for this procedure out of pocket... I truly believe it could be that helpful.... to me ! This can truly rebuild my joint cartilage on both knees, that have been bone on bone for nearly 10 years....
My TSR cost ~$40,000, and my co-pay was ~$4,000.00 for the entire surgery.... Can you imagine getting relief for one joint in less then 2 hours... for about the cost of a typical copay ? I'm a believer, Alan
Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I had extensive therapy for what was diagnosed as frozen shoulder, including an injection of steroids, several years ago. Physical therapy worked with stretching and exercise, and realizing how complicated and fragile the shoulder is. Many of my motions needed to be supported by the scapula like a counter weight and eventually the pain went away 100%. And then the years went by, as the story goes, and I started hurting again. I again received gentle and very soothing massage from my current PT and it was gone in about a month. My current PT recommends rest days or recovery days along with one of these new-fangled harnesses to ice the shoulder every evening. It's great that you are exercising every day, but a few rest days in between are helpful.
Hi Warren @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member
I personally take and have taken multiple supplements my entire life.... I have osteoarthritis and really started effecting me when I hit mid 40's, where as I was always achy, especially in my knee joints and caused a lot of overall stiffness... I started then with non prescription meds, and graduated to hard core prescription type meds along with the extreme use of Advil in my 50's.
After several knee procedures, I discovered that both of my knee joints were sluffing off the natural cartilage and just starting bone on bone wear. In mid 50's my left should started hurting really bad and that cortisone injections no longer did any thing....
Starting in early 2012, I started looking, and found - Orthopedic Surgeon Reuben Gobezie, MD, Chief of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, @ University Hospitals / Ahuja Hospital ( http://clevelandshoulder.com/about-us/ ) He is absolutely awesome.... both as a doctor and a real person !
The moment I woke up from total TSR surgery done to my left shoulder in Feb 2013, I had NO pain..... and after the meds wore off still no pain, at this very moment still no pain ! It's fabulous... and I don't even experience pain / discomfort with temperature extremes or dampness due to weather.
Having to be off of everything before the TSR surgery, both of my knees were going nuts with continuous acute pain... At this time we went to visit my brother in Vermont for his retirement party.... At that point he shared with me, what he was doing for himself for the severe osteoarthritis he had....
What I noticed, was in prior years when I took fish / krill / flax oil, along with some joint supplements... I had NOT taken an adequate amount to create a Therapeutics level in my system, along with the new improved type of joint supplements that are more readily absorbed by my system..... I take significantly more then the minimum daily amount suggested by the manufactures, and have found it to work wonders for me....
No, it didn't "rebuild" my knee joint, but I have no achy knee pains, no longer the overall body stiffness, and off prescription meds & my former 4-6 Advil's per day just to get by !
Today I wake up without pain, and go to sleep without constant pain.... and although I can't stand in place for 2-3 hours or walk non-stop for 2-3 miles, I am over joyed not having any pain continuously as before.... YES, I'm a believer in supplements, and I believe they work, but obtaining an adequate Therapeutic Level in your system is the key for success.... Alan
Ok, I suspect shoulder pain is related to PD! I have had shoulder pain for 40 years, many hours of therapy, cortisone numerous times, surgery once, still have pain and need to be really careful. Can't do many Yoga poses because it causes shoulder problems. I was reading a book about PD recently and it mentioned shoulder pain as a symptom. Makes me wonder if the PD has been doing things to my body for longer than recognized.
Hello Warren, It sounds to me like osteoarthritis may be your problem. Could be a lot of other things too, but let's assume its osteoarthritis. The remedy for that may need a shoulder replacement. Other than that, for me, there is the old standby...the ice pak. There are also medicated and cooling creams to be added. Is
this shoulder pain related to playing sports? My best. Sterling
