In answer to your rather abrupt question, allow me to share my experience with DBS.

I DBS in October 2009.

I have to say that the last eight year post surgery have been the best years of my life.

I had DBS surgery February 2014. My drugs were cut quite a bit, thank goodness. I was on Stalevo which got really expensive. Now I am taking levodopa carbodopa. The docs implanted one battery in my chest. I was told I would need to replaced it every 5yrs however my neurologist now said we'll need to change it by December. It's done as an outpatient. In short DBS is wonderful. Remember it's not going to stop the disease, it enables me go on everyday.

I have DBS, both sides. Mine began in November 2014 and last one was in February of 2015. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have severe dystonia and was using a wheelchair. My legs and feet are twisted and distorted without the stimulator. I am walking now. Best thing I ever did!

My friend Zoe had this operation. She was bed ridden and literally shaking herself to death and was told by her surgeon that he had saved her life. She is now happily living in Sweden and walking every day. Her life was transformed by the operation and I'd never have met her if she hadn't had it!
