Tampa, FL

I take Sinemet 25/100 tab every two hours and take premopexole every four hours. I start at 5 a.m. and finish up at 11 p..m. It works ok for me. Just want to see how others are taking these kinds of meds. Maybe some other ways could work better for me. Just a thought!

I try to watch meal time and make sure my husband doesn't take Sinemet with too much protein.

Rytary is the way to go. My doc gave me coupon. $25 per month. I'm on my 14th month. At first lasted 6 hours when Sinemet was only lasting 2.5 hours. But as time went on, it's now lasting 4.5 hours and holding. It's carbidopa- levadopa in a capsule with little beads that release at different times. My suggestion, don't eat big meals. Graze small quantities throughout the day. Meds work better.

I was like you until my doc prescribed Rytary which is a carbidopa levodopa but lasts much longer. The dosing is different, so don't be alarmed, but you can go 4-6 hours with one dose. It's the same drug with a different delivery system. I'm much better now. One thing I recommend to everyone: if you have a smart phone, set an alarm to remind you to take your meds on time. Sometimes taking meds as little as 15 minutes late, can affect hours of your day. I hope this helps. Has anyone else tried Rytary?

Why eat small meals? I haven't heard any restrictions on my use of Sinemet generic. I take one yellow tablet three X daily.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. I have heard of Rytary but have not used it. Its benefits sound more like the brand name called Sinemet instead of the generic called Carbidopa/Levadopa. Is it expensive?

I will be looking into this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with your team. Enjoy the remainder of your week-end. Best wishes. Sterling.
